Pacific performance and sport generate paperwork for 4 readers: rights societies and anti-doping panels, museum registrars and app storefronts. APRA AMCOS matches an Auckland songwriter against an IPI name number. For an athlete at the Tahiti 2027 Pacific Games, an anti-doping panel reads the declaration line against the Prohibited List. Our linguists grew up in Pacific performing communities. They translate between the clauses of rights law and the customary terms naming the family entitled to authorise a chant.
The 2027 Season, Hopuhopu to Pīraʻe
The 2027 season begins with Te Matatini o Ngā Taniwha at Hopuhopu, near Ngāruawāhia. At Tūrangawaewae, the pōwhiri takes place on 22 February. Pool performances run from 23 to 26 February, ahead of finals day on 27 February. Merrie Monarch week opens in Hilo on 28 March 2027, Easter Sunday. Heiva i Tahiti competitors fill Place Toʻatā in July. Tahiti hosts the 18th Pacific Games from 24 July to 7 August 2027, with 24 sports and about 4,500 athletes expected.
Kapa from 13 rohe across Aotearoa and Australia's Te Whenua Moemoeā won 57 places at the 2027 festival through regional qualifiers. At Tūrangawaewae in August 2026, Te Matatini seeded the top 20 kapa from the 2025 national competition across 4 pools: Te Ihu, Te Haumi, Te Awa and Te Kei. Our team prepares composition credits and bilingual programme text in Reo Māori for kapa based in Auckland. The broadcast and streaming release form is drafted by our translators once the pool order is public.
Sāmoa's Ministry of Tourism renamed the Teuila Festival in 2026. On 31 July the ministry closed registrations for Faʻaaliga o Measina, the renamed festival. Competition started on 7 August. The programme ran maʻuluʻulu and sasa divisions beside fautasi and paopao races. Our Samoan translators set out the crew entry forms and the stallholder agreements for festival sites in Apia.
Federations preparing athletes in Papeʻete for Tahiti 2027 issue a numbered set of letters and consent forms in French and Tahitian. The eligibility paragraph repeats verbatim across several letter types. A proofreader compared those repeats and found a single letter type with reworded text for an identical rule. The team restored the approved wording in that letter before release.
What Breaks in Music Release Metadata
ISO 3901 limits an ISRC to 12 characters drawn from Latin capitals and digits. Distributors pass that code between systems unchanged. ID3v1 fixes the title field and the artist field at 30 bytes apiece in ISO-8859-1. The ʻokina (U+02BB) and the macron vowels ā and ō belong to other Unicode blocks. A tag writer converting to ISO-8859-1 substitutes a question mark for both.
The Académie tahitienne writes the glottal stop as the ʻeta and marks long vowels with the tārava. A Papeʻete label releasing a Reo Tahiti album receives 2 title strings: a Unicode display title for the store field and a stripped fallback for Latin-1 systems. SACEM identifies the writer through an 11-digit IPI name number. A variant spelling of that name on a later declaration can open a second interested-party record.
In the 1976 Marshallese orthography, m̧ and o̧ are written with a combining cedilla (U+0327). The n̄ takes a combining macron (U+0304). Many typists in Majuro substitute dot-below letters with precomposed code points, Ṃ at U+1E42 and ḷ at U+1E37. Our Kajin Ṃajeḷ track sheets list the cedilla spelling beside the dot-below spelling. A royalty database searching the stripped form then matches both.
An ASCAP cue sheet for a Pacific song placed in a US television episode can spell a writer differently from the APRA AMCOS work notification lodged in Australia. The 2 societies then hold records under different names. A rights administrator merges those records by hand after the writer queries a statement. Our team fixes the writer names and the ISWC before first delivery. A reviewer then compares the store listing with the society records.
Tapati in February, Matavaʻa in December
From 3 to 14 February 2026, Tapati Rapa Nui ran contests from the Haka Pei descent of Maunga Puʻi to Takona body painting on the Hanga Vare Vare stage. Judges award contest points to the candidate of a family alliance. The Maʻu Henua community has administered Rapa Nui National Park under a 50-year renewable concession since 2017. Troupes staging a performance at a park site arrange recording consent with Maʻu Henua.
A Reʻo Rapa Nui linguist in Hangaroa transcribes the chant texts and composes the bilingual choreographer credits for the programme. Our team drafts the material declarations for feather and mahute costume pieces before a troupe flies to the mainland.
Since 1987, Motu Haka has run Matavaʻa o te Henua ʻEnana as a festival rotating between the inhabited Marquesan islands. Its 14th edition ran on Nuku Hiva from 16 to 20 December 2023. Troupes assembling in Taiohaʻe file 3 entry documents prepared in ʻEo ʻEnana. The dance category sheet and the chant attributions open the set. An ownership statement for tattoo motifs photographed at the festival closes it. Ownership of a motif and permission to photograph it are 2 separate consents.
Rapa Nui troupes touring the mainland apply in Spanish to Fondart, the Chilean national culture fund. Our Spanish team writes the application and the final report for troupes performing in Santiago. A state party lodges a UNESCO intangible-heritage nomination by 31 March in English or French. The Representative List form asks for safeguarding measures under criterion R.3 and community consent under criterion R.4.
Six Documents for a Loan from Port Moresby
A carved figure with shell inlay leaves the National Museum and Art Gallery in Port Moresby for a 3-month exhibition in Tokyo. The loan file lists 6 documents before the crate ships. Of those 6, 3 exist in 2 languages.
The clan holding rights in the design records its consent first. Huri translators put that record into Tok Pisin and English, naming the clan and the terms of return. The museum then issues the export permit under the National Cultural Property (Preservation) Act 1965. The permit restates those terms in the wording of the Act.
Under CITES Appendix II, the giant clam shell in the inlay needs an export permit. Tridacna species appear in that appendix. The Conservation and Environment Protection Authority grants the permit as the PNG management authority. The permit identifies the specimen by Latin name and by trade term. Customs officers hold a crate when the permit and the loan inventory describe the specimen differently.
The borrowing museum in Tokyo drafts the loan agreement in Japanese. Our Japanese team produces the English counterpart and translates the condition report, an itemised photographic record of pigment loss and insect damage. The registrar signs that report on arrival and again before the return crating.
Both parties agree a valuation in kina and yen before dispatch. Nail-to-nail insurance starts when the crate leaves the gallery. Japan Customs receives a temporary-admission declaration giving the insured value. On the return leg, the museum re-enters the figure against the original permit numbers and closes the file against the clan's consent record.
Article 2.4 and the Cold Remedy
Under Article 2.4 of the World Anti-Doping Code, 3 whereabouts failures within 12 months amount to an anti-doping rule violation. Athletes in a national testing pool file whereabouts quarterly and nominate a daily 60-minute slot. WADA publishes the Prohibited List by 1 October for use from 1 January. Many pharmacy cold remedies contain pseudoephedrine. WADA prohibits it in competition above 150 micrograms per millilitre of urine. Our Bislama notices for squads selected in Port Vila print that threshold in full.
The same duty appears in 4 documents. The athlete notice and the eligibility rules state it first. Event signage with its briefing script and the medical consent forms restate it at the venue. An athlete misreading the declaration wording on the notice risks an inadvertent violation. A first-language reviewer listed the prohibited items by name and set out the declaration steps against the Code text. The reviewer then brought the signage and the briefing script into line with that notice before print.
An athlete's physician completes the therapeutic use exemption application. The form names the diagnosis and the prescribed substance with its dose. A TUE committee returns an application when the translated dose and the physician's original disagree on the unit, milligrams against micrograms. Our translators check the unit against the original prescription.
The OFC Professional League opened at Eden Park on 17 January 2026 with 8 clubs from 7 associations. OFC staged its circuit rounds at 5 host locations, including Round 4 at the National Stadium in Honiara from 14 to 19 March. A player sent off in Honiara serves the suspension at the next host location. OFC issues the disciplinary decision to the club in English. Solomon Islands Pijin translators prepare the player-facing version for Honiara squads.
Age Ratings, Publisher to Storefront
Age ratings for Google Play and Nintendo eShop titles are issued by IARC from a single questionnaire. IARC returns the ESRB and PEGI ratings together with the ratings of the other participating authorities, GRAC in South Korea among them. IARC regenerates the whole set when the publisher changes an answer. Apple runs its own age-rating questionnaire in App Store Connect. A publisher answers in its own language. The storefront shows the rating descriptors in the player's language.
A Seoul studio ships its string table and its terms of service in Korean. Our Korean team writes the English pivot and the terms of service for the licensing jurisdiction. The Pacific-language passes then start from that pivot. Placeholder tokens such as {0} and %s stay in the form the studio sent. A translated token can crash the build at first launch.
Apple allows 30 characters for an app name and 30 for its subtitle. Google Play allows 30 for the title and 80 for the short description. Our CHamoru writers fit store text for Hagåtña publishers to those limits. The full in-app purchase disclosure follows in the description field. The Consumer Protection Division of the Office of the Attorney General of Guam assesses a purchase complaint against that disclosure.
From FestPAC 2028 to the 2031 Games
Nouméa last hosted the Festival of Pacific Arts and Culture in 2000. New Caledonia stages the 14th edition from 12 to 23 June 2028, after endorsement by the Council of Pacific Arts and Culture in September 2025. At a customary handover in Nouméa on 4 September 2025, the territory's culture minister received the festival paddle. The Pacific Community organises the festival. In October 2024, the Pacific Games Council placed the 2029 Pacific Mini Games in the Cook Islands and the 2031 Pacific Games in Tonga.
The festival organisers work in French. Visiting delegations receive accreditation packs in French. Performances in the 8 customary areas also need a consent form addressed to the chiefdom concerned. A performer from Papua New Guinea holds a visa-support letter beside the accreditation. An accreditation officer checks the spelling of the name on both documents before printing the badge.
Kiribati marks independence on 12 July, with festivities in South Tarawa from about 9 July. Groups dancing te kaimatoa and te buki enter the traditional dance competition. Our Gilbertese translators write the bilingual schedules for outer-island delegations arriving in Tarawa by ship. Radio scripts for listeners on Banaba and in the Line Islands follow in the same week.
Adjacent Files
The same client base commissions 3 further deliverable types.
Taonga Tūturu on Loan
The Protected Objects Act 1975 governs taonga tūturu leaving Aotearoa. The Ministry for Culture and Heritage grants temporary export permission piece by piece. Our Māori translators prepare the iwi consent record and the bilingual provenance file held in Wellington for the duration of a loan.
ʻIkale Tahi Commentary
Tongan commentary for ʻIkale Tahi test matches in Nukuʻalofa starts from a match glossary agreed before kickoff. The Lea Fakatonga team sets player-name spellings and sponsor-spot scripts for the broadcast.
Pidgin Theatre Scripts
Kumu Kahua Theatre has staged plays in local idiom since 1971. Bamboo Ridge Press has published Pidgin fiction and poetry since 1978. Our Hawaiʻi Creole English writers draft rehearsal scripts and touring glossaries for Honolulu productions.
